WHAT TYPE OF ROOFING MATERIALS DO YOU USE?
We use asphalt architectural shingles.
HOW LONG DOES REPLACING A ROOF TYPICALLY TAKE?
It typically takes 1 day to complete for any standard roof. If you roof is really steep or 40 plus square then it can take 2 days to complete.
DO WE HAVE TO BE OUT OF THE HOUSE WHEN YOU ARE REPLACING THE ROOF?
No, you can stay in your home while it is being replaced. It will be just loud and might give you a headache from listening to it all day.
CAN I REMOVE ICE FROM MY ROOF?
Yes, just be careful to not damage your shingles if you're using a sharp tool or excessive heat on the ice.
WHAT ARE ICE DAMS?
They occur when heavy snow buildup melts during the day and then refreezes when temperatures drop overnight.
WHY IS THERE DISCOLORING IN MY ROOF?
There can be a variety of reasons for this:
- Algae growth may cause discoloration on roofs resulting in brown or black streaks on a rooftop. Algae may be mistaken for soot, dirt, or tree droppings, most of which typically produce only localized discoloration.
- Color shading is usually the result of variations in surface reflectance in different areas of the roof. Even slight differences in shingle texture can make color shading perceptible.
WHAT KIND OF VENTILATION CAN I USE ON MY ROOF?
The two main ways for ventilation:
- Box vents- which are metal boxes closes to the top of your roof.
- Ridge vent- which is on top of the ridge of your home.
- Both allow ventilation to occur, but we prefer a Ridge Vent because of its ability to properly disperse ventilation across the entire roof, instead of localized ventilation spots.
